Pancakes & Pajamas, An Annual Kid’s Christmas Party

IMG_4683

On our sweet little street, filled with rough and tumble boys, it’s become a tradition to celebrate Christmas with an annual Pancakes & Pajamas breakfast. As I, and nearly everyone else with children has said, there is something quite magical about experiencing the delights of the holiday through the eyes of a child who BELIEVES.

To keep the breakfast-themed affair fresh year after year, I decide on a new concept, color palette and peek online to see what Oriental Trading, one of my favorite party supply stores, has to offer. This year it was all red, white and candy canes! Check out the cute party supplies below.

To create a bit of interest I used the Candy Cane plastic tablecloth as runners across the table versus the length of the table. Next are silver chargers followed by paper plates. I like setting a tablescape with a lot of texture and layers, even for kids parties. Believe it or not they appreciate the effort! Here are some if the items used:

  • Roll of Candy Cane striped plastic tablecloth
  • Solid red dinner plates & festive Candy Cane dessert plates (napkins here)
  • Striped treat boxes
  • Adorable reindeer Candy Cane covers
  • Paper tissue snowflakes
  • Paper lanterns (similar ones here) and Peppermint Swirl Hanging Decorations

No party is complete with sweet treats and these cookies and cupcakes from two of our favorite neighborhood bakeries, Just Cupcakes and Cookies by Design, were a bit hit!

Candy Canes, peppermints, and these Jingle Bell Candy Cane Christmas Ornament Kits were party favors. Each kit came individually wrapped with an assortment of red, white and green bells, pipe cleaner, gold string and a sweet little red bow embellishment. With a little assistance, even the little guys were able to make their own ornament.

My little guy said this is his most favorite party we have all year (and we have a few!) and was so excited to have his friends come over and spend the morning with him. Creating new traditions are a fun part of celebrating Christmas and Pancakes & Pajamas is one I look forward to hosting as long as they’ll let me.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
